Wolverine family takes icy dip
last Sunday for Special Olympics
The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge, held annually on the first Sunday in February, is Delaware's Special Olympics most significant fundraiser. Donations come from individuals who take the plunge into the icy Atlantic Ocean during the height of winter!
The Wesley Wolverine Fromal family went for the cold dip this past Sunday in Lewes, Delaware, where a total of 3,501 “Bears” (i.e., those braving the cold waves) raised a record $820,000.
The Fromals of Middletown, DE, are Dennis, Sherri and daughters -- both Wesley College athletes -- senior softball & field hockey player Kayla and sophomore field hockey player Kelsey.
The Fromals raced to the water for Bearing It All for Jacob, a group which consists of 30+ members of Jacob's family, friends as well as Special Olympics athletes. Jacob is a 19 year old who has been a Special Olympics athlete since the age of eight.
