Alyssa Zimmerman slated as a
future force behind Wolverine plate
A fastpitch softball catcher must be quick and coordinated from her crouched position to suddenly and effectively field the bunt, drop and block the wild pitch and be especially fast in releasing the ball with a strong, accurate arm.

The Wesley Wolverines have been blessed at the position these past years with the standout performances from junior #18 C Nina Marcano (CAC triples record holder) and #22 C/INF Morgan Seymour (switch hitting slapper) with back up from all-conference senior #32 INF Kayla Fromal.
Then there's freshman #13 Utility Ashley Royer who plays just about every position, including catcher, extremely well.

Meet Alyssa Zimmerman from Clear Spring High School, just west of Hagerstown, Maryland.
Alyssa officially signed yesterday to wear the bulky Wolverine navy and white protective gear and help signal pitches beginning with the 2017 season.
“Alyssa is quick behind the plate, possesses a great arm and will be a fabulous addition to our pitcher/catcher battery” states Coach Greep.

Alyssa has already met the current Wolverine pitching and catching squad, leaving a impressive impression on the team and its coaches at last November's Wolverine Softball Skills & Prospect Camp. She plans to check back with Coach Greep and the team at a few Wolverine games later this spring.
“We look forward to her training with our current catchers, learning the ropes and being a force behind the plate,” added Coach Greep.
