Flu shot now saves inconvenience later
Height of this year's flu season
coincides with softball schedule

Better be safe than sorry. Think about a flu shot soon, especially if you are a Wesley student and softball teammate.

The flu season has already begun with most cases of it expected to occur after the first of the year. Since 1983, the CDC has tracked flu activity and projects it to peak this winter in the month of February.

That corresponds with Wesley Wolverine softball season!

Last year (2013), the Wolverines played their first doubleheader in February. These were away games at Gallaudet University (Washington DC). Then, there were 14 games in March and 18 in April.

Flu hurts studies and playing time...

The usual fever, body aches, and congestion of the flu are certainly no fun and when the flu strikes,  it probably means lost classroom and study time, too.

For softball players, the flu typically sidelines an athlete for several days through practices and/or games at the height of the season when every bat, glove, and arm is needed. It might even knock out a player from warm games in the sun at the Myrtle Beach tournament in early March (2015)! (UPDATE: this year "warm games in the sun" at Clermont, Florida, 2016!!)

Where to get a shot...

The WesleyCollege "Emergency Services" website notes that flu shots are available (for a fee) near campus at Doc in a Box Walk-In Medical Care Center, 1020 Forrest Ave., Suite 1, Dover, Delaware, (302) 730-1110 and

Also, near the Wesley College campus, flu shots are given at most local pharmacies, Eden Hill's ExpressCare, other walk-in clinics and doctor offices.
