CAC teams national update
Christopher Newport #3,
while Salisbury ranked #8
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) have tossed the Wesley Wolverines' opponents – the Salisbury Sea Gulls and Christopher Newport Captains – up and down the list of top 25 teams in the early weeks of the new 2016 season.
As of last week's rankings, Wednesday, March 16, the NFCA rewarded the Captains current 16-1 strong start with a #3 rank in the nation, while the Sea Gulls' 14-3 record through this week have them not far behind in the #8 spot. Christopher Newport and Salisbury are, of course, like Wesley, both Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) members, where they are #1 and #2 respectively in the conference standings. Wesley sits in the #6 place.
The Christopher Newport Captains have only been beaten by the Texas-Tyler Patriots who are ranked #1 nationally. The Salisbury Sea Gulls have lost to the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins, ranked #11, the powerhouse Rowan Profs and an unyielding outing from the Roanoke Maroons.
The Wesley Wolverines will play Salisbury at home on Wednesday, April 13, and travel to Newport News, VA, for the Christopher Newport games on Saturday, April 16.
