SAMATHA BURNS

D1 transfer
Wesley fastpitch
will get even faster

The Wesley Wolverines are fast!

As a team, Wesley leads the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) in stolen bases by a large margin. Junior #2 OF Sarah Saunders (Wayne, NJ) and sophomore #18 C/3B Nina Marcano (Middletown, DE) rank #1 and #2 across the league in bases swiped.

Freshman #99 P/OF Lauren Hoffman (Middletown, DE) and junior #8 OF Steph Caracozza (Melbourne Beach, FL) who rank #6 and #8 respectively in conference steals are not far behind, either.

Now the Wolverines plan to become even faster in the upcoming 2015-16 season.

Samantha Burns

Meet Samantha Burns, a division #1 transfer from the UMass Lowell River Hawks to the Wesley campus and the DuPont softball field next season.

In the fall, she will join junior #22 C/UT Morgan Seymour (Smyrna, DE) to give the Wolverines two exciting, proficient slap hitters. Samantha bats from the left side, but she throws right-handed, playing shortstop and second base.

Having grown up in Magnolia, DE, Samantha is not new to downstate Delaware softball. She has played travel ball for local teams, most recently, prior to college, traveling across the bay to bring her solid offensive and defensive skills to the Severna Park Green Hornets Gold for two years.

Her speed is blazing fast, as sophomore #9 P/OF Lily Engel (Dover, DE) can attest.

Samantha and Lily were teammates for three years on imposing Polytech High Panthers (Woodside, DE) softball teams. Their high school years together included a conference championship and a final playoff game for the state championship title.

Samantha also has been selected to Delaware's All-Henlopen Conference teams.

Samantha is an Exercise Science major set to graduate in 2018.

“I love the game of softball,” Samantha says. “I am excited to use my skills and play with the girls on the Wesley softball team!”
