How did the Wesley Wolverines keep to their winter exercising program and prepare for the upcoming 2016 season during this holiday break?

For some, it was the few days that the Wesley West Fieldhouse was open or warmer afternoons spent on DuPont Softball Field. For others it was a local gym, ball field or park and/or an early morning run in the hometown neighborhood.

For junior #9 P/OF Lily Engel (Dover, DE), it was an adventure like never before.

This new year, Lily traveled far south to the hot Caribbean sands, green-blue waters, bright, cloudless skies and rhythmic reggae sounds of Negril, Jamaica.

She had a busy schedule filled with cliff diving, parasailing, snorkeling, skipping across waves on a catamaran – and, yes, softball!

Of course, Lily packed her ball and glove for beach workouts with fellow traveler First-Team All-Patriot League baseball catcher Adrian Chinnery from the United States Naval Academy. It was all “nice up” as they say in the Jamaican patois.

It was definitely softball/ baseball weather in
Negril,Jamaica
, where temperatures approached
90 degrees in recent weeks.

Later, she also spent a couple of days in a snowy, colder clime of Toronto, Canada, and Niagara Falls where – despite the chilly temperatures our Wolverines must always face in early spring – this northern weather proved not at all conducive to even a quick fastpitch or hardball catch!

Wolverines: If you have shots of a holiday adventure or unusual workout that you can share with this blog, please e-mail the photos to wesleysoftball@gmail.com. Your teammates, family, friends and fans would love to see them.
