DODGE & BUBBLEBALL

Fun evening off campus
Softball and lacrosse squads meet
on dodgeball & bubbleball courts!

It has become a tradition.

Two years ago, the Wesley Wolverine softball team challenged Women's Lacrosse to a kickball contest on a chilly evening under the lights at Scott D. Miller Stadium. Last year, the competition moved inside for a volleyball game at Wentworth Gymnasium.

This year, last night, November 3, the two were at it again. This time it was a doubleheader off campus at an indoor athletic training facility -- Impact Sports, Dover, DE – featuring two non-traditional collegiate games of dodgeball and, what turned out to be a wild collision match, not unlike bumper cars, called bubbleball soccer.

Bubbleball wraps a large, single-chamber inflatable sphere around a player that, by its sheer bulk, immediately challenges both an athlete's balance and agility. For those unfamiliar with it, the bubble wrap can be better understood by viewing the photos in the slideshow and video below.

The dodgeball game also was fast and furious, played with soft, air-filled rubber balls flying back and forth between the two sides.
