Visitor Neumann: small school
brings impressive softball record!


The Wesley Wolverines will finally launch “fall-ball” this Tuesday evening, October 6! Weather forecasts predict a beautiful, if slightly chilly, night for softball.

The team will host the Neumann University Knights for the doubleheader at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM on the Dover Little League softball field, 200 Electric Ave, Dover. Please note: these are home games played OFF CAMPUS on the lighted fields behind Dover's Schutte Park, Dover, DE.

The Knights start the 2016 season as their conference champions. Last spring, the team hit at a .366 clip with a .494 slugging percent behind dominant pitching (1.82 team ERA).

NEUMANN ATHLETICS: Neumann University fields twenty-one teams with approximately 300 student-athletes competing in NCAA Division III contests.

HISTORY
 


HOMEPAGE: Founded and sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, Neumann is a private, Catholic, co-educational University in the Franciscan tradition, which emphasizes respect for individuals, concern for the environment, and social responsibility.

WIKIPEDIA: Founded as Our Lady of Angels College in 1965, the name was changed to Neumann College in 1980 in honor of Saint John Neumann, a former Bishop of Philadelphia, and achieved "university status" in 2009.

SOFTBALL
 


NEUMANN SOFTBALL: Neumann won the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) conference championship last year, 2015, with a 21-1 record, while playing at a 30-9 overall season won/loss tally. The Knights have appeared in the conference postseason in each of the past 12 seasons, finishing as either the champion or runner-up.

HEAD COACH: Bill Saar begins his 14th year at the helm of the Neumann Softball team for the 2016 season. Coach Saar was inducted into the Neuman Hall of Fame in 2011, while also winning his 300th game during last season's schedule.
